Desierto. Desert. I lived in a desert for six years. no rain. water shortages. Sand. Dust. Grey. Yellow. Shiny. Ocre. blend. the mountains were heaps of beautiful silky sand. Cactus. sometimes burnt out like pieces of coal. the grey skies of Lima and the sand dust that would fill in every single corner of your life. your house your clothes your body your hair. your nostrils. and eyes. earthquakes shake the buildings that are loosely built within the sand. the blurry lines between the sand and the sky. I loved the desert yet I longed for rain. and now in the rain I long for the desert, whose sand has nourished my childhood into the woman I am today.
